Girl Scouts thank all Project Undercover supporters

On behalf of the Cumberland Girl Scouts, I would like to thank all the Girl Scout troops who participated in this year's GSRI council service project, Project Undercover, as well as their community partners.

Project Undercover is GSRI's annual council service project held in collaboration with the Rhode Island Donation Exchange Program. Each year in April, troops throughout the state collect underwear, socks and diapers for the 40,000 children in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts who live in poverty or encounter emergency situations. Rhode Island has the highest rate of children living in poverty of the six New England states. Now heading into its 13th year, more than 2 million items have been collected and distributed to these children.

This year during the month of April, Cumberland troops collected more than 3,000 individual items, thanks to donations from a wonderful and generous community.

We would like to express our gratitude to the area schools, businesses and churches for providing collection sites: Mercymount Country Day School, Community School, Cumberland Hill School, North Cumberland Middle School, and Neighborhood Nursery, Navigant Credit Union and Dave's Marketplace; Cumberland Public Library, Center Attraction Hair Salon, St. Aidan Church, Emmanuel Episcopal Church and Arnold Mills Methodist Church, Cumberland Fire Department, North Cumberland Fire Department.

Once again, Girl Scouts in Cumberland are making the world a better place. Without the support of our community, it would not be possible. Thank you.

Rose Faucher,

Project Undercover Chair

Cumberland
