Arnold C. Franz Jr. - Cumberland

Arnold C. "Arnie" Franz Jr. of Cumberland died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Landmark Medical Center.

He was the husband of Carol Pihun Franz. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Arnold C. and Rose-Aimee (Lambert) Franz. Mr. Franz was a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam era. Mr. Franz worked in sales for Standard Uniform and the Coca-Cola Company for several years and was the former owner of Dairy Town in Rumford. He also was the owner of Family Hair Care, formerly Fantastic Sams, in the Walnut Hill Plaza in Woonsocket for 20 years. Arnie was an avid skier and enjoyed playing golf. Besides his wife he leaves a son, Christian A. Franz of Cumberland; a daughter, Alyson Franz of Pawtucket; a sister, R. Carol Faria of Lincoln; three nephews, David, Joey and Daniel Faria; and a brother-in-law, Peter Pihun of Barrington.

His funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Road, Woonsocket, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are Thursday from 6-9 p.m. Arnie was a lover of animals and per the family request, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Rhode Island Chapter of the SPCA, 186 Amaral St., Riverside, RI 02915 in his memory would be appreciated.
