Gloria R. Brackett - Smithfield

Gloria R. Brackett, 79, of Lakeside Drive died April 11 at Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence.

She was the beloved wife of Army Sgt. Carl E. “Buddy” Brackett; Gloria was Buddy’s rock. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Peter D. and Ella (Lancor) Salway, she had lived in Smithfield for the past 32 years. Mrs. Brackett worked as an elevator operator for the former Hospital Trust and had been a gift wrapper for the former Shepard’s Department Store. Her greatest pleasure was taking care of her husband Buddy and she was proud to be a homemaker. Besides her husband she leaves a niece, Kathleen Marcoux of Glendale; and a sister, June Bianes of Cumberland. She was the sister of the late Bernard Salway.
