Troiano earns Eagle rank

CUMBERLAND - Michael Troiano received his Eagle rank at Court of Honor on April 12. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 1 Arnold Mills, and the son of Chris and Kathie Troiano.

Troiano joined Boy Scouts in 1997 as a Tiger Scout with Den 5 of Pack 1 Diamond Hill. He continued on as a Cub Scout and then Webelo, before crossing over to Boy Scouts with Troop 1 in 2001.

As a Cub Scout, he earned every merit badge available at that level, and as a Boy Scout, he has earned 22 merit badges.

He was elected to the Order of the Arrow in July 2005. He has served as an assistant patrol leader, instructor and troop librarian.

For his Eagle Scout project, Troiano organized 20 Boy Scouts and adult leaders to collect children's books for the Books Are Wings program. They collected more than 4,300 books for distribution across Rhode Island to schools, daycare centers and libraries.

At his Court of Honor, Troiano received citations from state Rep. Richard Singleton, U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy, Gov. Donald Carcieri, and the state House of Representatives.

Troiano is a junior at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, Mass., and is employed by Shaw's Supermarkets.
