Summer programs available to local youth

WOONSOCKET - Local organizations have announced summer opportunities for local youth. You can learn more at an information session for parents and teens - Wednesday, May 14, at 4 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m., and on Tuesday, May 20 at 4 and 6:30 p.m., at Family Resources Community Action's Youth Career Center, 55 Main St. For more information, contact Jo Goode at 235-6059. Here are the programs:

The Youth Employment Program at Family Resources Community Action is offering a five-week summer program for 14- and 15-year olds. The 20-hour a week program will include job shadowing, work readiness activities, field trips, and more.

RiverzEdge Arts Project is offering a seven-week summer arts program that includes hands-on learning and employment opportunities in painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and graphic design.

The Northern R.I. Area Health Education Center is offering a six-week health care careers exploration program for ages 14-15.

The Homestead Group has a six-week career exploration program for developmentally disabled youth ages 14-24.

Weekly youth stipends are available in many programs.
