A little less legislature, please
I had to chuckle after reading about Sen. Frank Ciccone's (D-Providence) suggestion to turn Rhode Island's part-time General Assembly into a full-time legislature where lawmakers are paid $85,000 to $145,000 a year plus freebies like health care, pensions and other goodies.
Living in this state all my life and being retired on a fixed income, I learned that the more time the politicians are away from Smith Hill the better, that's less time they have to screw things up.
John Quinton said it best. "Politicians are people who, when they see light at the end of the tunnel, go out and buy some more tunnel."
