Domino's, Photography Associates capture CYSA regular season championships

CUMBERLAND - Help from an unlikely source allowed Domino's Pizza to capture the Cumberland Youth Soccer Association Boys U-13 regular season title on Saturday.

The regular season champs took care of business by cranking ReMax Town and Country-McPhee, 5-0, and then got the turnaround it hoped for when The Valley Breeze upset first-place Ratcliffe, Burke, Harton and Eli, 3-1, for only its second win of the season.

That left Domino's with a record of 4-1-1, while Ratcliffe, Burke, Harton and Eli fell to 4-2-0 and out of first place.

In the division's other game, The Habitat pinned Cumberland Wrestling, 4-3.

Playoffs are this week, with The Habitat facing ReMax Town and Country McPhee, and Cumberland Wrestling taking on The Valley Breeze. The top two teams draw byes and will take on the survivors.

In the Girls U-12 Division, the regular season championship came down to Saturday's game between a battle of the undefeateds when Photography Associates battled Lapre Physical Therapy.

Lapre held the advantage going in, having won all of its games, while Photography Associates had one tie on its resume.

When the game was over, it was Photography Associates gaining the crown by taking a 4-1 decision.

In other division action, Navigant Credit Union popped Eggs Up, 3-2, Dolan Insurance cranked Arthur Lambi and Associates, 4-1; and Heffernan Law Offices blanked Ackerman Title Services, 4-0.

The final standings show Photography Associates in first place at 5-0-1, followed by Lepre Physical Therapy, 5-1-0; Heffernan Law Officers, 3-1-2; Dolan Insurance, 3-1-2; Navigant Credit Union, 2-4-0; Eggs Up, 1-3-2; Ackerman Title Services, 1-5-0; and Arthur Lambi and Associates, 0-5-1.

In Boys U-10 Division action, Lonsdale Concrete Floors Inc. nipped Urgent Medical Care, 2-1; Rhode Island Novelty put the cap on a perfect regular season and the regular season championship with a 6-1 win over World Trophies; Freedom National Bank and Gettinger Periodontics and Dental played to a 2-2 tie, and Dante A. Ramos MD beat Northern Rhode Island Physical, 6-3.

Rhode Island Novelty finished at 6-0-0, followed by World Trophies, 3-3-0; Lonsdale Concrete Floors Inc., 3-3-0; Urgent Medical Care, 3-3-0; Freedom National Bank, 2-2-2; Gettinger Periodontics and Dental, 2-3-1; Northern Rhode Island Physical, 2-4-0; and Dante A. Ramos MD, 1-4-1.

Cumberland House of Pizza is the Girls U-10 Division regular season champion, finishing with a 5-1-0 record. They were followed in the standings by Bain Farrell ReMax and Impress Cleaners, both 4-2-0; Rhode Island Novelty, 3-3-0; Dexter Credit Union, 2-4-0; and Cumberland Family Eye Care, 0-6-0.

In final games on Saturday, Cumberland House of Pizza downed Rhode Island Novelty, 6-2; Dexter Credit Union blanked Cumberland Family Eye Care, 5-0, and Cumberland House of Pizza edged Bain Farrell ReMax, 5-4.

In the Girls U-16 Division, last-place Subway handed www.CaribbeanTanRI.com its first loss of the season with a 4-2 upset, but it wasn't enough to stop the league leaders from taking the regular season crown with a 5-1-0 record.

They were followed in the standings by Citizens Bank, 4-1-1;The Ice Cream Machine, 3-3-0; Whistle Stop, 3-3-0; Giguere Financial Services, 1-4-1; and Subway, 1-5-0.

In the final division game, Citizens Bank topped Whistle Stop, 4-1.

Games in the Boys U-16 Division were postponed because of a lack of field availability.
