Rhode Island Rays U-10 girls post win over Plymouth

The Rhode Island Rays U-10 girls team turned in a strong performance and dumped host Plymouth, Mass., 4-0 in recent action.

Following a scoreless first half, the Sting took the lead when Taylor Pacheco of Smithfield knocked home a free kick.

The Sting scored again with two goals by Miranda Peloquin of Smithfield on assists from Hailee Jarry of Cumberland and Gabrielle Delos of Burrillville. Alexis Olson of Warwick netted the final goal to preserve the shut out victory. The Sting was able to hold off the Crusader attack with defensive efforts by Alyssa Swift of North Providence and Michaela Natal of Portsmouth. Goalkeeper Amber Fortune of Providence preserved the shutout. The win improved the team's record in the spring Maple league to 2-0.

The Rhode Island Rays have limited openings for the 2008-2009 seasons. Any interested player born on or after Aug. 1, 1997 may participate. There is no fee to try-out. For more information, call 692-7285 or visit eteamz.active.com/rirays .
