Eugene Kuntz - North Smithfield

Eugene Kuntz, 92, of 1031 Victory Highway, North Smithfield, died Dec. 19, 2009, in the Morton Plante Hospital in Clearwater, Fla.

He was the husband of the late Melvina (Gaumond) Kuntz. Mr. Kuntz was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Camille and Leonie (Ruhland) Kuntz. He retired from Burgh Brothers where he worked as a press operator, and he also worked for the former French Worsted Co. for many years. Mr. Kuntz volunteered for the Senior Meals in North Smithfield program. He was very active in the Senior Olympics and was an avid bowler in Rhode Island and Florida. Mr. Kuntz was a foster parent for more than 13 children in North Smithfield for many years.

He leaves a daughter, Jeanne Durand of North Smithfield; his companion, Helen Gorges of Clearwater, Fla.; a foster son, John Corbridge of Eustis, Fla.; four grandchildren, Keith, Jason, Dennis and Daniel; and four great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. He also was the brother of the late Lucien Kuntz.
