John L. Noke Jr. - Smithfield

John L. Noke Jr., 72, of Tucker Road in Greenville died Sunday, Feb. 7 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Phyllis D. (Mercier) Noke. They had been married for 49 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late John L. Sr. and Janet E. (Holden) Noke, he had lived in Smithfield since 1967. Mr. Noke was an Air Force veteran. He was an EI technician for Verizon until retiring. He coached many years with the Smithfield Junior Hockey and NRI Vikings Hockey. He was a manager for the Smithfield Little League, a score keeper for Cumberland Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls’ softball teams and he loved following his grandchildren's sporting events and taking them camping.

He leaves his sons, Craig S. and Jack A. Noke, both of Cumberland, and Chris J. Noke of New York, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Ashley, Patrick, Tayla and Zachary; a sister, Janet E. Noke of Warwick; and a brother, Craig L. Noke of Pacific Grove, Calif.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
