Joseph “Gus” LaSalle - Woonsocket
Joseph “Gus” LaSalle, 74, of Cumberland Hill Road, Woonsocket, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket.He was the husband of Rochel T. (St. Onge) LaSalle whom he married May 30, 1956. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late William and Blanche (Guerard) LaSalle. Gus was the owner and cook of the former Austin's in Woonsocket. He also had worked as the general manager of the former Cocke ‘n Kettle in Uxbridge, Mass., and was an owner of the former Over the Rainbow Lounge in Cumberland. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Besides his wife he leaves four sons, Steven LaSalle of Palm Bay, Fla., Kenneth LaSalle of Woonsocket, Scott LaSalle of Oakland Park, Fla., and David LaSalle of Wrentham, Mass.; a brother, Ronald LaSalle of Blackstone; a sister, Jeanette Lanowy of North Smithfield; and four granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Norman LaSalle and Georgette Erben.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Calling hours are omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Rhode Island, 260 West Exchange St., Suite 102B, Providence, RI 02903.
