Roland J. Tardif - Woonsocket
Roland J. Tardif, 71, CFP, LUTCF, of Cumberland Hill Road, Woonsocket, died Friday, Sept. 18, at Oakland Gove Health Care Center.He was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Paul Emile and Yvette (Galipeau) Tardif. Roland was a district life insurance agent for Boston Mutual Life Insurance Co., for more than 20 years, retiring in 1996. He had also served on the Woonsocket Police Force for 10 years and was a Navy veteran. Roland was an entrepreneur of service to the public. He was a volunteer for the Special Olympics held at the University of Rhode Island for many years and was an avid fisherman, and tennis player. He loved watching the Red Sox and the Patriots and attending family gatherings. He leaves four children, Michael J. Tardif of Woonsocket, John R. Tardif in Wyoming, Monique Tardif and her wife Moreen of Spencer, Mass., and Gisele Smith of Woonsocket; two brothers, J. Gerald Tardif and his wife Lorna J. of Milford, Mass., and Paul J. Tardif and his wife Jacqueline A. of Woonsocket; and four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, Rathbun Street, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Special Olympics of RI, 33 College Hill Road, Suite 31 Warwick, RI 02886 in his memory would be appreciated.
