Good balance in Rhode Island Senior Softball

Approaching the season's half-way mark, there are no undefeated teams remaining in the Rhode Island Senior Softball League, and there are close pennant races in all divisions.

Ray Sewell Income Tax Service was the last team to fall from the ranks of the undefeated on Sunday when they split a double-header with A-1 Division rival My Cousin Vinny.

After winning the first game easily, 20-3, Sewell dropped the second, 21-4 for its only loss thus far.

Sewell leads the A-1 Division at 7-1, followed by Action Auto Parts, 6-2; and My Cousin Vinny, 6-6.

In A-2/B-1 Division crossover play, Elmwood Sports swept Governor Francis, 15-5 and 11-3; The Valley Breeze split with Francis Farm A, 12-11 and 2-9; and Nassa 60 took a pair from Pond House, 17-13 and 13-10.

In B-1 Division, the Valley Breeze is leading at 11-3, followed by Nassa Flooring 60, 8-6; Governor Francis Inn, 5-9; and Foxwoods Casino, 4-8.

In B-2/B-3 contests, Clark & Sons swept Francis Farm B, 7-4 and 14-5; Paul's split with Nassa 65, 8-7 and 13-19; Woodmansee Insurance took two from Anderson Winfield, 18-4 and 17-6; and Abbott Action split with Roundhouse Tavern, 10-4 and 6-14.

Roundhouse leads in B-2 at 11-3, followed by Clark and Sons, 9-5; Paul's, 8-8; and Woodmansee, 6-9.

In B-3, Nassa 65 is in first at 10-4, followed by Francis Farm B, 8-7; Abbott Action, 3-13; and Anderson-Winfield, 2-12.

In C Division games, Nelson Mack VFW swept Cam Engineering, 4-3 and 8-2; Wanskuck Post 56 swept SJK Landscaping, 11-0 and 13-1; El Azteca Restaurant took two from CVS, 10-9 and 8-2; and Graziano Marble and Tile split with Atwood Tan, 8-7 and 5-11.

El Azteca is in first place at 12-2, followed by Wanskuck Post 56, 11-3; Nelson Mack, 9-5; Atwood Tan, 8-6; CVS, 6-8; Cam Engineering, 4-10; Graziano, 4-10; and SJK, 2-12.
