House Tours at Historic Hearthside


Adult and youth interpreters in historical costume will provide tours of the 200-year old home, including the history of the area, the house, and the many different families who called it home. A demonstration in basket making will be given in the new attic exhibit which features the original antique looms used by the Talbot family in the early 20th century. See history being revealed as conservation work is performed on the portrait of George Washington Talbot, son of Commodore Silas Talbot of the USS Constitution, who was a renowned merchant in the China Trade, and an ancestor of Arnold Talbot who ran the hand weaving business at the house between 1904-1926.
The house is open from 1-4 p.m. with the last tour given at 3 p.m. Admission is $8 adults; $6 seniors; $4 ages 10-17; under 10 free. Reservations are not required.
