Local historian and author Paul F. Caranci will be signing copies of his book, The Hanging and Redemption of John Gordon: The True Story of Rhode Island's Last Execution, on Thursday June 20, 2013 at Gallery Night at the John Brown House Bookstore in Providenc, RI. The book signing will take place from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. The book chronicles the brutal 1843 slaying of one of Cranston's most powerful Yankee industrialists, the framing of a family of Irish-Catholic immigrants, the corrupt trial, the wrongful execution of an innocent man and the evidence that led to his ultimate pardon in 2011 by Governor Lincoln Chafee. Paul will be one of several members of the Association of Rhode Island Authors (ARIA) that will feature, and read from, their works throughout the course of the two-hour event.
