Join the costumed docents of the Hearthside House Museum for a guided tour of this magnificent stone mansion. Learn about the several families who called it their home up until 1996. Tours begin at 1 p.m., with the last one given at 3 p.m. Admission is $8/adults; $6/seniors; $4/ages 10-17; under 10 free.

Explorer Riverboat Tours on the Blackstone River depart every Sunday through Oct. 20, from Central Falls Landing on Madeira Avenue, Central Falls, at 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. A tour guide explains the ecology of the river and surrounding wetlands interspersed with stories about the people and history of the region. Adults $10, seniors and children $8. “Free Sundays” are the last Sunday of every month sponsored by Citizens Bank. Call 401-724-2200.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Scituate Animal Shelter. All breeds are welcome. Prices are $10 for small dogs, $15 for medium dogs, $20 for large dogs and $25 for giant breeds. Raffles will be held; bring in a pet food item and get one free raffle ticket.
