Explorer Riverboat Tours on the Blackstone River depart every Sunday through Oct. 20, from Central Falls Landing on Madeira Avenue, Central Falls, at 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. A tour guide explains the ecology of the river and surrounding wetlands interspersed with stories about the people and history of the region. Steere Orchard will host its 9th annual Apple Fest: A Fall Harvest Celebration. Blue Around The Edges will play Appalachian music with strings and vocals from 1 to 4 p.m. Free Scenic hayrides through the apple orchards will take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pick-your-own-apples will be available throughout the day. The orchard will be offering free samples of apples, baked goods, and recipes, in addition to apple pies, apple crisps, apple cakes, hot mulled cider, pumpkin breads, and other apple and pumpkin treats for sale.

Swamp Meadow Community Theatre will present the Arthur Miller classic drama “The Crucible.” Written in the early 1950s, the story takes place in Salem, Mass., in 1692.
