Kenneth M. Leonard Jr. – Cumberland

Kenneth M. Leonard Jr., 72, passed away on Monday at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Louise A. (Newsham) Leonard. They were married for the past 46 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Kenneth M. Leonard Sr., and Thelma (Danis) Leonard. Mr. Leonard resided in Cumberland for the past 42 years, previously residing in Pawtucket and Barrington. He also spent summers on Hog Island, Portsmouth, R.I.

He was a member of the Smithfield Elks. Mr. Leonard was a member of the American Legion Post 14, Cumberland, and Secretary of the House Committee. He was also a member of the Bristol Yacht Club.

He was president and co-owner of Fire Control International, Johnston, that he co-founded in 1979. He was a member of the UA Local 51 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, East Providence.

Beside his wife he is survived by his children, Jennifer C. Leonard of Cumberland; Kenneth M. Leonard III of Narragansett and Mark J. Leonard of North Stonington, Conn. Two brothers, Craig S. Leonard of Rumford and Brian Leonard of Kutztown, Pa.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paul Leonard.

His funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 4 with a prayer service at 11 a.m., in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland.
