Chamber hosting Active Shooter Training seminar

LINCOLN – The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce is presenting an Active Shooter Training for Businesses seminar on Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Chamber, 6 Blackstone Valley Place, Suite 402, in Lincoln.

This instructor-led workshop for Chamber members provides preparation and a plan for businesses on how to proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event. Its tactics rely on the natural instincts of people, coupled with mental preparedness to allow them to make informed choices during such an event, according to the NRI Chamber.

Detective Sgt. Gregg L. Catlow of the Smithfield Police Department will lead the seminar. He is a Certified ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate), instructor and has been a police officer for 14 years. Catlow is also a firearms instructor, certified by the National Tactical Officers Association, and the Rhode Island Tactical Officers Association to teach Active Shooter Response to police officers.

There is no fee for Chamber members, but registration is required and seating is limited. To register, visit www.nrichamber.com . Coffee and breakfast pastries will be provided.
