Anthony P. Gouveia – Cumberland

Anthony P. Gouveia, 94, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Amalia "Molly" (Pina) Gouveia and they had been married for the past 70 years.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Rodrigues) Gouveia. He resided in Cumberland and Lincoln for most of his life.

Mr. Gouveia was employed as a mixing and melting supervisor for the former Corning Glass Works in Central Falls and recently received his 75th Anniversary pin recognizing his years of service to the company.

He was a communicant of the St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland. Anthony was passionate fan of New England sports.

He leaves his children, Marianne Douglas of Barrington, Joe Gouveia and his wife, Debra, of Stratham, N.H., Jim Gouveia and his wife, Carol, of Warwick, Tom Gouveia of North Attleboro, Mass., and Robert Gouveia of Pawtucket; his sister, Mary Rebello of Lincoln; his seven grandchildren, Neil, Keith, Kristen, Kelly, Amber, Molly and Brian; and his six great-grandchildren, Kodiak, Jillian, Hayden, Evelyn, Amelia and Gabriel; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Cody Gouveia and great-grandfather of the late Cohen Pardy.

Family and friends are kindly invited to Anthony's Life Celebration which begins with visiting hours on Sunday, March 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. Services continue Monday, at 10 a.m., from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., in the St. John Vianney Church, 3655 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery.
