Omer R. Galarneau – Attleboro, Mass.

Omer R. Galarneau, 83, of South Attleboro, Mass., passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Elza (Fonseca) Galarneau and the late Constance (Varieur) Galarneau.

Born in Pittsfield, N.H., he was the son of the late Oliver and Florence (Messier) Galarneau. He resided in South Attleboro for the past 14 years, previously residing in Cumberland for most of his life.

Mr. Galarneau was employed in the warehouse for Teknor Apex for more than 20 years until his retirement in 1993.

Omer enjoyed polka music and played the drums for many area Polka bands. He also was an accomplished and decorated athlete, runner, swimmer and cyclist. He participated in many triathlons over the years, with his all time highlight being his 5th Place finish in the World Invitational Triathalon in St. George, Utah in 2005. In addition to his talents and athletic achievements, Omer was an avid fisherman.

Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Raymond Galarneau of Cumberland; his daughter, Jeanne M. Galarneau of Cumberland; his brother, Oliver Galarneau Jr. of North Attleboro, Mass.; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Glenn Galarneau and brother of the late Jeannette Perry and Claire Jeffrey.

Family and friends are invited to Omer's Life Celebration which will be held on Saturday, May 12, with visiting hours from 10 a.m. to noon, in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at noon.
