Joanne L. Waskiel – Cumberland

Joanne L. Waskiel, 69, passed away on Sunday, May 27, in the Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Center, Providence.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Mance (Moreau) Anderson. She was a lifelong Cumberland resident.

Joanne enjoyed spending time at the beach, playing cards and listening to music. She enjoyed her time spent with her daughter, sister, cherished nieces, nephews and their families, especially Wednesday night family dinners.

She was a medical secretary employed by R.I. Hospital, Providence, for more than 15 years, previously working for Dr. Gerald Marsocci, Cranston, and Health Tex, Cumberland, for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Waskiel, of Cumberland and one sister, Susan Fernandes, and her husband, Joseph, of Norton, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are kindly invited to Joanne's Life Celebration beginning on Thursday, May 31, with visiting hours from 5 to 8 p.m., and continuing on Friday at 9 a.m., from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., in St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland.
