Dress up your pet for a costume contest at Slater Park Oct. 25

PAWTUCKET - The Pawtucket Dog Park Committee's "Paws & More - Canine Costume Contest" returns to the Pawtucket Dog Park on Saturday, Oct. 25, from noon to 3 p.m.

The event will happen in the stage area next to the carousel, across from the Slater Park pond. Bring a blanket, chairs and snacks. Don't forget your dog waste bags as well. A panel of guest judges will include Kim Kalunian from WPRO. Awards presenter will be Paul Fuller from 94HJY.

The contest is open to everyone and is free to enter, but the entry deadline is Oct. 17. The categories are:

* Fashionista - male/female high fashion and formal.

* Most Adogable - anything goes - cute, silly, original, etc.

* People/Pet Duo - dress with your pooch in complementary costumes.

* Best in Show.

Pet owners can register online by visiting www.pawtucketdogpark.com and going to the October Happenings page to enter.

In addition to the costume contest, the Dog Park Committee will have its committee booth up and running with dog park sweatshirts and T-shirts for sale, and a raffle for the hand-carved pumpkin that was created at this year's Dogapalooza event by chainsaw artist Michael Higgins.
