Frank J. Lachut – Cumberland

Frank J. Lachut, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Margaret M. (Ulcak) Lachut for the past 49 years.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maryanna (Preneta) Lachut. He resided in Cumberland for 49 years, previously residing in Pawtucket. During the summer months, he resided at his house in Bonnet Shores, Narragansett.

Mr. Lachut was a United States Army, World War II Veteran.

Frank was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, especially his family with whom he enjoyed spending most of his time. One of his passions was his love for home improvement projects and helping friends, family and any new acquaintances with any project needed. He enjoyed finishing basements, hanging wallpaper, and general reconstruction and repairs.

He was a lifelong learner who felt every moment was a learning experience that could be shared with his loved ones. He had an authentic, genuine nature that endeared people to share their most intimate thoughts and experiences. Those left behind will deeply miss his caring guidance and love.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, John Lachut, and his wife, Kim, of Plainville, Mass., and Michelle Purvis and her husband, Arthur, of Texas; his grandchildren, Jack and Michael Lachut and Matthew and Andrew Purvis; his sister-in-law, Rita Lachut, of Cumberland; his nieces and nephews Stanley and Beverly Lachut and Joseph and Jackie Lachut; as well as his great-nieces and nephews, Tara Letourneau, Stanley Lachut, Patrick Lachut and Anthony Lachut.

Family and friends are invited to Frank's Life Celebration to be held Monday, September 3, 2018, with visiting hours from 5 to 7 p.m., and continuing on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 10 a.m., from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., in the St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
