Meet the candidates in the Republican Town Council primary

SCITUATE – Only seven of the 11 Republican candidates will move past the primary next Wednesday, Sept. 12, to go on to the November election for the seven-seat Town Council.

The Republican Town Committee endorsed seven candidates, including incumbents Charles Collins, David D’Agostino, and Brenda Frederickson. Also endorsed are newcomers James Brady, Gary Grande, Abbie Groves and Tim McCormick.

The four remaining unendorsed Republican candidates are Brian Grossguth, Tammy Jean Pelletier, Brian Venditelli and Stacy Vezina-Wortman.

Primary winners will face seven other candidates for Town Council, making it a 14-person race on the general election ballot.

Endorsed Democrats Debra Archetto, and Kimberly Smith and independents Scott Amaral, Thomas Galligan, Nicholas Izzi, John Mahoney and Michael Payette will not face a primary before the general election.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:

• District 1- Scituate High School, 94 Trimtown Road

• District 2- Hope Elementary School, 391 North Road

• District 3- Chopmist Hill Center, 1315 Chopmist Hill Road

Community Activities: Coached Scituate Little League baseball and soccer, member of the Scituate Lions Club

Public Service: 38 years police officer, retired
