Heitke promises to protect civil liberties

Kevin Heitke, endorsed Democrat running for Senate District 23, serving Burrillville, Glocester and North Smithfield, promises to protect civil liberties on the state level that may be restricted or eroded on the federal level.

“I support universal health care. By lowering overhead, improving education and providing affordable access and care, we save millions of dollars and keeps costs down for subscribers. We must reduce our state’s addiction to prescription drugs,” he said.

Heitke said he supports loan modifications for past graduates by having interest rates lowered and thinks every student should be able to graduate from college debt-free.

As a former Town Councilor, Heitke said he understands what it takes to balance budgets, including compromises and mutual respect for those who may differ in opinions.

“I support continued mass transportation access between Providence and Northwest Rhode Island. I look forward to maintaining our communities’ sense of place,” he added.
