Brien says he will not host “big ticket fundraisers”

WOONSOCKET – Mayoral candidate Albert G. Brien recently announced that his campaign will be a low budget effort devoid of any big ticket fundraisers.

“I will not participate in the seemingly unethical practice of soliciting campaign donations from city vendors, nor will I accept any contributions from vendors/contractors who do business with the city. I find it reprehensible that the city hires various entities from outside the city limits via RFP and then those successful individuals receive tickets to expensive fundraisers that generate the dollars necessary to create expensive mailers,” he said.

Brien added that he will not seek or accept endorsements from out-of-city officeholders. “The only endorsement that I seek is yours, that of the people,” he said. “That way, when elected, there will be no possibilities of conflicts of interest.”

Brien indicated his sole fundraiser will be a beer and dynamite event at a time and location yet to be determined.
