Alice Santos - Cumberland

Alice Santos, 96, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Monday, June 24 at The Highlander in Fall River. She was the wife of the late Constantino "Slugger" Santos, former deputy chief of the Cumberland Police Department.

Born in Fall River, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Rosa (Travers) Estrella. Mrs. Santos was employed as a factory worker for the Attleboro Dye Company for many years until her retirement.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Cumberland. She was a charter member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Community Chorus.

She leaves her daughter, Cynthia Morrison of South Attleboro, Mass.; son, Charles Santos of Tiverton; two grandchildren, Rebecca Santos of Somerville, Mass., and Justin Morrison of Pawtucket; one great-grandchild, Dante Santos; and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Daniel Santos, and sister of the late Manuel Estrella, Alfred Estrella, Charles Estrella, Emma Estrella and Elsie Mello.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 8 A.M. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 A.M. at St. Patrick Church, Broad Street, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
