Woonsocket holding registration period for new students

WOONSOCKET – The Woonsocket Education Department is accepting registration for new students in grades K through 5 with events at Harris Elementary School located at 60 High St., from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Aug. 1, 8 and 15.

Registration is only for students who are new to Woonsocket's school district and all students who register must be at least five years old by Sept. 1 to enroll in kindergarten.

Students with individual education plans or IEPs must register at the McFee Administration Building Special Education Office located at 108 High St.

New middle school students headed into grades 6 through 8 must call the middle school guidance office at 235-6110 extension 3010. Those with IEPs need to register with the school's special education office by calling 235-6110 extension 3011.

New high school students need to contact the high school's guidance department at 767-4721. Those with IEPs must register with the special education office at 767-4810.

Parents will need the following information in order to register their child:
1. Birth Certificate
2. Proof of Woonsocket Residence (utility bills and/or lease)
3. Immunization Records
4. Physical Examination Records
5. All other academic records (grades, previous schedules, etc) are needed to schedule appropriate classes
6. Social Security Number (if available)
7. Medicaid Number (if available)
