Normand R. Dextraze - Woonsocket

Normand R. Dextraze, 72, of Woonsocket, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, in his home.

He was the husband of Lucille A. (Boisvert) Dextraze, whom he married April 22, 1967. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Donat and Lea (Blanchard) Dextraze.

Normand was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and earned his associate degree in fire science from Community College of Rhode Island. He served on the Woonsocket Fire Department for 26 years, achieving the rank of Captain.

Normand honorably served his country as a radioman in the Coast Guard. He was a member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks and the Cercle Laurier. Normand enjoyed playing cards, bowling and golfing.

Besides his wife, Lucille, he leaves their children, Steven N. Dextraze and his wife Kelly of Blackstone and Darlene A. Bileau and her husband John of Woonsocket; his brother, Donald Dextraze of Woonsocket; his sister, Gloria Brissette of Woonsocket; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thomas and Ciara; as well as many nephews and nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at 10 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 P.M. in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
