Theresa E. Wedekind - Cumberland

Theresa E. (Sbardella) Wedekind, 89, of Owen Drive died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of William F. Wedekind.

Born in Boston, Mass., a daughter of the late Salvatore and Virginia (Vitro) Sbardella, she has lived in Cumberland for the past 44 years.

Mrs. Wedekind was a private duty nurse at Woonsocket Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital before retiring. She was a graduate of St. Raphael’s, Hyde Park, Mass., and received her LPN Degree from Community College of Rhode Island.

A communicant of Historic St. Joseph’s Church, Cumberland, she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of its Women’s Guild.

Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Virginia M. Lindgren and her husband Mark, and Theresa M. Wedekind, all of Cumberland; two sons, William J. Wedekind and his wife Beth of Millersville, Md., and Robert J. Wedekind and his wife Cindy of Riverside; one sister, Clara Kornher of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Louis Sbardella of Boca Raton, Fla., and John Sbardella of Hyde Park, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Michael Wedekind, and the sister of the late Eleanor Tessitore and Joseph Sbardella.

Her funeral will be held THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 at 8:45 A.M. from BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Historic St. Joseph’s Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited and may call WEDNESDAY 5-8 P.M.
