Cumberland Rec offering baby-sitting course

CUMBERLAND - The Cumberland Recreation Department is offering the American Heart Association certified baby-sitting course to ages 11-14, on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Diamond Hill ski lodge building.

Space is limited and registration is being held now through Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Cumberland Recreation Department, 4097 Diamond Hill Road. The cost is $70 and includes a book, certificate and CPR certification.

The course will cover the following: CPR, choking, and AED use following the American Heart Association guidelines; injury management and first aid safety; childcare essentials: child development overview, preventing problem behaviors, feeding/changing a baby or toddler; games and crafts to play with children of all ages; safety for the sitter; marketing new baby-sitting skills.
