BVCAP opens new computer lab

PAWTUCKET - Blackstone Valley Community Action Program's new computer lab is now open for use by students and employees. Funded largely by Ocean State Charities Trust, the computer lab has eight computers, all outfitted with Microsoft Office, Internet access and educational programs. The desks were donated by Marc Stimpson at Hope's Woodshop.

The computer lab is already getting good use, according to BVCAP officials.

The GED students are practicing their computer skills in preparation for the computerization of the GED test coming in 2014, and the English as a second language class is using the computer lab to do Internet research for an upcoming project.

In addition, students can use the computers for resume writing and job searching.
