Neighbors in Fairlawn planning cleanup

PAWTUCKET - Volunteers are urged to "pitch in and pick up" by taking part in the "Fairlawn Neighborhood Fall Cleanup" event on Sunday, Nov. 10, beginning at noon (rain date Nov. 17).

Patricia St. Germain, an organizer of the cleanup, said volunteers will meet at the Nathanael Greene Elementary School, 285 Smithfield Ave. to receive supplies and assignments. St. Germain, president of the Fairlawn Against Crime Team, which organized the cleanup with City Councilor Timothy Rudd, said participants will also include the Fairlawn Cardinals and local Scouts, as well as local residents and anyone else who would like to participate.

Mayor Donald Grebien said the city Public Works Department will assist by supplying gloves and other cleanup materials for volunteers. "This is a great community effort in a proud neighborhood and we're pleased to help them out," he said.
