Alleged speeder indicted in woman's death

PROVIDENCE – The state Office of Attorney General announced this week it will be arraigning Will Girard of Foster on one count of driving to endanger death resulting following a grand jury indictment.

It’s alleged that Girard, 19, was traveling his Buick Regal at a speed greater than 100 miles per hour just after noontime on May 16 when he struck the Ford Focus driven by Tracy Guy, 38, at the intersection of Route 94 and Route 6 in Foster. Girard was driving north on Foster Center Road, Route 94, and Guy was going east on Danielson Pike, Route 6.

As both vehicles entered the intersection of the two roadways, Girard’s vehicle struck the passenger side of Guy’s vehicle. The impact caused both vehicles to continue across the east and westbound lanes of Danielson Pike before coming to rest in the grass on the opposite side of the highway, according to the State Police report. Guy died as a result of the injuries she suffered.

Girard is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Dec. 11.
