'Food and Toys for Fines' begins Dec. 1

CUMBERLAND - The Cumberland Public Library is holding its annual Food and Toys for Fines event from Sunday, Dec. 1 to Saturday, Dec. 14.

Patrons with overdue items can get their fines forgiven and help out needy families in Cumberland at the same time.

The library will be accepting non-perishable food items and new toys in lieu of money for overdue items. Patrons can bring in one food item per overdue item and the fine will be waived.

All collected items go to the town's Happy Basket program. For health reasons, no expired food or stuffed animals can be accepted.

For more information, call the library at 401-333-2552 or visit www.cumberlandlibrary.org .
