Dowd indicted for assault, refusing to give up a phone

Charles Dowd, a resident of 20 Bellcourt Ave., was indicted on Wednesday, Dec. 4, and charged with one count of domestic simple assault and one count of refusal to relinquish a telephone. Dowd, 51, is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and then refusing to give up the phone when police arrived.

The Johnston Police Department conducted the investigation. Dowd is set to appear in court Dec. 11.

Cardoso indicted for robbery

The Providence County Grand Jury indicted Jason Cardoso, of 2161 Mineral Spring Ave., with one count of first-degree robbery. Cardoso, 33, allegedly robbed the CVS on Mineral Spring Avenue on June 26. The North Providence Police conducted the investigation. Cardoso is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Dec. 18.
