Halina Z. Wolny - Woonsocket

Halina Z. (Myslicki) Wolny, 70, of Woonsocket, R.I., died peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.

She was born in Kopyczynce, Poland, in 1943 and immigrated to the United States with her late husband, Noel B. Wolny and their son, Marek in 1964. They made their home in Woonsocket as lifelong residents.

Halina worked as a seamstress for many years at Finkelsteins and later at House of Brides, both in Woonsocket, R.I. For more than 30 years, Halina dedicated herself as the president of the Cracovia Soccer Club, co-founded with her late husband in 1980. The club continues to be a program where generations of families can gather to both play and learn about the game.

Halina will always be remembered as devoting her life to Saint Stanislaus Kostka Parish, where as church administrator she worked tirelessly to maintain the glory and splendor of the parish. A giver, Halina always placed others’ needs before hers and this was exemplified through her many positions as co-chair of the CCD program, Christmas bazaar and Polish picnic, as well as serving as a Eucharistic minister.

Her husband, Noel B. Wolny, preceded her in death as did her father, Wladyslaw Myslicki. She is survived by her mother, Stanislawa (Matias) Myslicki of Sagamore Beach, Mass. She is also survived by a son, Marek T. Wolny and his wife Michele of Woonsocket; a daughter, Dr. Yvonne M. Wolny DMD of Woonsocket; a daughter, Elizabeth H. Savoie and her husband Guy of North Smithfield; a son, Adam N.B. Wolny and his wife Alicia of Woonsocket; and six grandchildren, Caitlyn, Nicholas, Marianna, Ethan, Noah and Ryan. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Ewa Beaudoin and her husband Richard of Sagamore Beach, Mass., and Ann Akroyd and her husband, Dennis Gannon of Cranston, R.I.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Stanislaus Kostka Parish, 174 Harris Ave., Woonsocket, RI 02895.

Her Funeral will be Thursday, Feb. 6th at 9 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 35 Harris Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Harris Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery. Relatives and Friends are invited. Visitation hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Kubaskafuneralhome.com.
