The 20th annual NRICA Mardi Gras will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, and residents can take part in the fun by guessing who will serve as this year's King Jace - the mysterious monarch to preside over the ball. Organizers have released 10 clues regarding the king's identity.

King Jace, the Mysterious Monarch of the Woonsocket Mardi Gras, is being played by a man from the area whose name most local people would recognize.

Here are the clues:

1. Has more in common with Prince Charles than most Kings.

2. Plays the game with fifty-one.

3. Has been a president and a chairman.

4. Is "Ram" tough.

5. Has royalty in his family.

6. Watches the dollars and cents.

7. Frequently sees double.

8. Is torn between two countries.

9. His favorite season is autumn.

10. Occupies two houses.

If you think you know the name of the man playing King Jace this year, put one dollar in an official King Jace Quest envelope, available at WOON and WNRI radio stations and the offices of The Call on Main Street. A drawing from all correct guesses will be held after the king is unmasked at Woonsocket's Mardi Gras Ball Feb. 22 at St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center. Envelopes will also be available at the ball. The winner gets a cash prize of one-half of all the dollars raised.
