Pawtucket GOP supports open meetings complaint against school board

PAWTUCKET - The Pawtucket GOP supports the open meetings request complaint filed by The Breeze pertaining to a Feb. 11 Pawtucket School Committee meeting that led to former Supt. Deborah Cylke being kept on as a consultant through the end of her contract.

"It appears that the taxpayers are being taken advantage of here," said Scott Rotondo, chairman of the Pawtucket GOP. "While it is terrific to have a transition plan in place, is it really necessary to pay two people to do essentially the same job? And, where does the money to do this come from? What effect, if any, will this have on spending per pupil? Will this extra money be diverted from the classrooms, where it is needed the most? This is clearly something that should have been discussed and commented on in open session, not in private."
