Recreation Dept. offers children's painting classes

CUMBERLAND - The Recreation Department is offering art classes for children ages 6 and above.

In the four-week course, children will use watercolor, oil pastel and ink to create a masterpiece of their own. Students can bring in a picture - photo, calendar picture or magazine photo - of something they like a lot to use as the main image in their painting. Lessons include basic drawing skills and techniques, and how to frame their painting.

Classes take place Mondays, April 28, May 5 and 19, and June 2, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the ski lodge building in the parking lot of Diamond Hill Park. The instructor is Germaine Krobath. The cost is $49, plus a $19 materials fee, including frame. Register at the Cumberland Recreation Department, 4097 Diamond Hill Road, or call 401-334-9996.
