Celebrate Mother's Day at the Mancini Center

NORTH PROVIDENCE - The Salvatore Mancini Resource and Activity Center, 2 Atlantic Blvd., announces the following events.

The Walking Club has moved its location to Evans Field on Smith Street. The club meets on Mondays. Transportation from the center is available at 9:30 a.m. All participants are asked to log their time into the computer when returning to the center.

The SMRAC Beauty Salon is open on Fridays, from 8 to 10:30 a.m., or by appointment. The following services are offered: hair styling, coloring, hi and lo lights, perms, nails and waxing.

A Mother's Day celebration will be held Friday, May 9, at 11 a.m. Entertainment will be provided by Frank Castle. Mayor Lombardi will also visit and provide a surprise gift for all mothers.

The Arthritis Foundation will hold the presentation Put Pain in its Place, on Tuesday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. The program, developed by the Arthritis Foundation in conjunction with the National Council on Aging, has been created for elders who have osteoarthritis. A program on stroke awareness will be presented by Diana Mercurio from Our Lady of Fatima Stroke Center on Thursday, May 15, at 10:30 a.m.

A Memorial Day celebration and Honor Guard ceremony with the Korean War Veterans of Northern Rhode Island will be held Wednesday, May 21, at 10:30 a.m.
