Pawtucket man arrested for unprovoked stabbing

PAWTUCKET - On Wednesday at around 12:45 p.m., the Pawtucket Police Department was notified of a stabbing that had occurred at 155 Pleasant St., home of the Major League Kuts barbershop.

Police say Abraham Silva, 25, of 52 Larch St., in Pawtucket, stabbed a barber at Major League Kuts for no apparent reason.

Responding officers were notified that Silva had fled the area and was running on Cedar Street. Officers Tousignant and Skahan located the suspect and took him into custody. They were able to recover a knife they say was used in the attack.

The victim, a 25-year-old male, stated that he was cutting a customer’s hair when Silva began attacking him with a knife. The victim suffered wounds to his back, neck and head area. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

Other witnesses stated that the suspect entered the store and asked for a male who was not present at the time. After being told that the male was not at the store, police said Silva attacked the victim without provocation.

The victim is not being identified at this time. Silva is being held for arraignment. He will be charged with felony assault.
