Mayor Lombardi wins NPELL title

NORTH PROVIDENCE - The North Providence East Little League regular season was completed last week with a flurry of games, mostly due to the early season rain-outs.

Each team played between four and six games to conclude the regular season, resulting in limited pitching options for critical games.

In the end, Mayor Lombardi took over and held on to first place with an 11-4 record, second place went to Courts Sporting Goods, third place to Toni & Guy and fourth place to Atomic Salon.

The best-of-three playoff series began this week matching Atomic Salon and Mayor Lombardi. The other best of three series will match Courts and Toni & Guy.

The league will begin its championship series after the Little League teams complete the All-Star tournament.

Home run leaders for the season were Nick Conte with five, Marcus Brotherns with three and Mike Valle with two.
