Glocester bus monitor arrested for child porn

GLOCESTER - Members of the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested a school bus monitor from Glocester on child pornography charges last Friday. Joseph Such Jr., age 30, of 95 Putnam Pike in Glocester, was arrested for possession of child pornography and transfer of child pornography.

Such was arrested as a result of information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating that an individual was transferring images of child pornography using an email account, according to a news release. Task force members investigated the complaint and traced the reported activity to his home. Members of the task force who searched the home allegedly found child pornography. They seized a laptop and cell phone for further analysis.

Such is employed as a bus monitor by Hopkins Transportation, of 1378 Snake Hill Road in North Scituate. He was assigned to bus route 53, which transports students in kindergarten through 5th grade students in western Glocester. Though the investigation is ongoing, police say there is no evidence indicating Such has had inappropriate contact with children.

Such was arraigned on the charges in Sixth Division District Court. He is due in court Aug. 15.

A person found guilty of possession of child pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000, imprisoned not more than five years, or both. A person found guilty of transfer of child pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000, imprisoned for not more than 15 years, or both.
