Araujo advocates for 'open communication'

PAWTUCKET - School Committee Chairman Michael Araujo, who is seeking re-election in the Democratic primary, said he has "advocated for collaboration between the Pawtucket School District and Pawtucket City Hall" during his time on the School Committee.

"I firmly believe that we as a city can and will achieve more by working in a collaborative manner," he said. "I also have advocated for increased open communication between the Pawtucket School Committee and the Pawtucket City Council with the intention of having more constructive and respectful dialogue between our respective governing bodies.

"For the first time, we have a joint ad hoc committee that regularly meets to ensure that we are all on the same page," he said. "We have seen some positive results due to such communications and I intend to continue to enhance this open dialogue."

Araujo said he has "advocated for a healthy working relationship" between the Pawtucket School Committee, administrators and employee groups.

"Our employees are our biggest asset and I feel that we are moving in a positive manner in our working relationships," he said. "Whether the Pawtucket School Committee is in agreement or not with whomever the dialogue is with, I feel strongly that at the end of the day, it's all about open and respectful communication between all parties involved."
