Theresa R. Zakalski - North Smithfield

Theresa R. (Turgeon) Zakalski, 88, of North Smithfield, and formerly of Vero Beach, Fla., died October 6, 2014, in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.

She was the wife of the late Gerald J. Delisle and the late Palmer Bowling and Wallace G. Zakalski. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Louise (Marechal) Turgeon.

Theresa worked 14 years as a nurse’s aide for Woonsocket Hospital, retiring in 1985. Previously she worked in several area textile mills and for Leviton Wire in Pawtucket for 12 years.

In Vero Beach, she was a “Vice Mom” for the Red Regal Sisters for two years and a volunteer for the blind, teaching daily life skills and providing transportation.

She is survived by a son, Gerald R. Delisle of Temecula, Calif.; a daughter, Theresa Nolan and her husband Raymond of North Smithfield; two grandsons, Timothy Nolan and Ryan Nolan, USN, and his wife Melissa; three great-granddaughters, Olivia, Brea and Abbigail Nolan; and several nieces and nephew. She was the mother of the late Richard Delisle and sister of the late Alfred Turgeon, Reina Diogenes, Anita Dufault and Louise Palardy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville, RI 02876. Burial will be private. Calling hours are omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church.
