Thelma E. Brett - Pawtucket

Thelma E. Brett, 86, of Cumberland, and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully with her entire family by her side Saturday, November 1, 2014.

She was the wife of the late William J. Brett Jr. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Frank Winfield Carr and Ruth (Clark) Carr.

Thelma was an operator for the former New England Telephone and later was a receptionist for Dr. Martin of Pawtucket for many years.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Church of Pawtucket and former member of the former St. Martin’s Church where she served on the altar guild and the vestry. She volunteered at the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Paw Sox, Bruins and Patriots.

She is survived by her children, Donna Ryan and William Brett III; a sister, Dorothy Crepeau; and three grandchildren, Nicole Henson, Amy Callahan and Brett Ryan. She also leaves her great-granddaughter, Aaliya Henson. She was the sister of the late Donald Carr.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Costigan-O’Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Requiem Mass at 10 a.m in Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket, Burial will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
