Bruno J. Baril - Woonsocket

Bruno J. Baril, 88, formerly of Miles Avenue, Woonsocket, died Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Scalabrini Villa in North Kingstown.

He was the loving husband of the late Rolande M. (Delorme) Baril. They were married for 51 years at the time of her passing in 1998.

Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Azarias and Cordelia (Bergeron) Baril. He was raised in St. Charles de Mandeville, P.Q., Canada. Mr. Baril returned to Woonsocket in 1943 and remained a lifelong resident of the city.

Mr. Baril was employed at the Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for more than 22 years. He then worked for the Woonsocket School Department, initially as a carpenter, and later as the Supervisor of Maintenance until his retirement in 1988.

Bruno was a longtime communicant of St. Agatha Church. He enjoyed woodworking and trying his hand at golf.

Bruno will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather as well as for his strong faith and steadfast work ethic.

Bruno is survived by his two daughters, Pauline Allaire-Adams and her husband William of North Kingstown, and Diane Demers of San Diego, Calif. He leaves six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Bruno is also survived by his friend and companion, Muriel Milette of Cumberland. He was the brother of the late Marcel, Joseph, Leo, Alfred, Rene, Gerard and Roger Baril, Georgette Prescott, Marianne Baril, Jeanne Paquin, Irene Landry, Gabrielle Richer and Berthe Menard.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Agatha Church, 34 Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Monday morning from 9-10 a.m., prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket.
