Linda E. Walden - Foster

Linda E. (Borst) Walden, 63, of Foster, passed away unexpectedly July 19, 2015.

Linda was born in Danville, Pa. She is survived by her beloved parents, Kenneth and Lorraine (Weaver) Borst. She was predeceased by her brother, Doug. She married her high school sweetheart, Tom Walden.

She was an exceptional and loving mother and is survived by daughters, Diana Abbott and husband Micah, and Leanne Walden and her husband Jay Bridge. She was a doting grandmother and took great joy in her granddaughters, Evelyn and Karina Abbott. She is also survived by numerous friends and extended family.

Linda received a bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College and a master’s degree from WPI in natural science. She began her career as a high school biology teacher, but has since made a significant impact in the town of Killingly, Conn., as director of planning and development.

She was active in her community, serving on The South Foster Ladies Auxiliary; Foster Center Ladies Auxiliary; Foster Parent Teacher Group; Hemlock Village board of directors; Ladies Home Mission of the Foster Center Baptist Church; secretary of the Foster Ambulance Corps; as well as numerous town boards and commissions. She had been a candidate for elected office several times.

Despite her sweet and cheerful personality, she was a formidable proponent in any cause she believed in. She had a passion for the natural world and she dearly loved her family.

A memorial service will be held at the South Foster Fire Station, 5 Mt. Hygeia Road in Foster on Thursday, July 23 at 11a.m. Burial will be private.
